House of Paper

I explored the relationship between architecture and photography. When photographing architecture, I began questioning whether these images belong to documentary photography or fiction. While their purpose is often to document buildings objectively—without the photographer’s presence being felt—they still depict spaces that were first imagined by someone. In this sense, architecture perceives space in the same way a photographer perceives reality: both construct an image rather than capturing an absolute truth. With this project, I wanted to highlight this shared vision and bring photography and architecture together. I aimed to reveal the fictional nature of architecture and challenge the idea that documentary photography truly exists.

To do this, I documented the architecture of Lanzarote, known for its iconic white buildings. I created real-time collages in front of the lens, using the buildings themselves and A4 sheets of paper to construct abstract environments. These interventions blur the line between fiction and documentary, questioning how we perceive and represent space.
